Did You Know The American Red Cross Has Resources Available For You?

Many of us have seen or experienced the devastating aftermath of hurricanes in Florida. Unfortunately, these negative effects tend to be worse through a lack of preparation ahead of time. As hurricane season gears up and you start to prepare to protect yourself and your loved ones, we want to share with you a few resources that you may not be aware the American Red Cross offers.

Emergency Preparedness Kits

While preparing for a hurricane, one of the most important first steps you can take is to build an emergency preparedness kit. Typically, the kit will include the essentials, such as a flashlight, batteries, first aid kit, water, food, wet wipes, a local map, and tools.

Did you know, however, that the American Red Cross offers complete emergency preparedness kits at a discounted rate?

Each kit is identified by different levels, such as a starter kit, basic kit, and a deluxe kit, which can be utilized according to your needs.

Checklists

You may know how important it is to create an emergency preparedness kit and family communications plan.

You may not be aware, however, that the American Red Cross already has pre-written checklists for you.

The emergency preparedness checklist, for example, is specifically designed for disaster preparation. In addition to the checklist, there is also space to list your emergency contacts and to draw a rough floor plan of your home. You can access these on the American Red Cross website and use them to guide your hurricane preparation.

First Aid Training

Unfortunately, hurricanes can cause more than just property damage.

To help prepare for unexpected injuries, the American Red Cross offers both online and in-person first-aid training courses at discounted rates.

These classes are easy to register for by visiting the American Red Cross website, and will provide you with a first aid certification that you can use in the future. If you have already taken a first aid course, but would like to refresh your knowledge and skills, refresher courses are also available.

Above all, if you have any hurricane-related concerns, including damage from storms where you may need representation on your claim, do not wait to contact our office. We are the community law firm here for you 24/7 to schedule a free case evaluation so that we may assist you with your hurricane insurance related questions.
